Hey everyone long time no see...I have a kinda tech question for ya...My girlfriend has a 1999 laredo with a cracked front axle assembly..if looking at axle...it is cracked and leaking like a sieve to the drivers side of the pumpkin...I am wondering what it would cost to get a newer one that ISN'T cracked to be swapped out for her..Her mechanic has been blowing smoke up her butt lately about fixing it, but apperently welded the crack together and it aint holding..Anyone have any knowledge on what a newer axle assembly would run us?
thx

chris, you been driving other peoples stuff As far as the cost of an axle, call around to different salvage yards. The big thing as you know is to get one with the same gear ratio. Depending on the year and what's bolted onto it (you can swap over most everything) I'd figure you'd spend $250-$500 from a yard.

Nope I drive my own..But right now, mine has been broken since the run on the 4th of july...
My gf on the other hand has a cracked axle..I can see the shaft thats how big the crack is...
I found one thru a friend with the same 3.73 gears, and her jeep is quadratrak 2(on demand all wheel drive) so was a little more pricey at $650 includes ALLLLL the guts!and he's gonna swap it out of a 2004 grand cherokee into her 1999

The "Large evap leak" no one has been able to figure out..it really stinx that I can't fix that... But on the 4th July run I bent my draglink..Currie says that the 1.25" tubing shouldn't have bent like that!!!! Especially after what I did to it...but I will never get currie again! They didn't stand behind their product...so I purchased a cheaper one, I got the Rugged Ridge one..Quadratec gave it to me for $150 Rugged Ridge is 1.25" cold rolled tubing as well..Here goes nothing..lol "These Tie Rod Assemblies provide virtually 1-ton strength with factory tapered ends, so no modification is required! The tube is 1.25” OD SAE steel with .25” wall thickness that is cold rolled, pierced and drawn through dies. This bolt-on tie rod and drag link solution is perfect for preventing bent tie rods from off roading with larger tires. All rod ends come complete with dust shields, castle nuts, cotter pins, 2 jamb nuts and zerk fittings." "
