Well, It may be a problem, either way, it's weird. Had a few minutes today to work on the XJ. Basically getting it ready for winter. Mods will hopefully come in the spring. Anyway, I hooked the radio back up today, the positive feed was torn off the battery. The kid who had it really hacked the wiring. the positive feed to the battery was black! If the ignition is off and i turn on the headlights, the radio comes on. The dome lights only work when the key is on. They are also not door pin activated, He hacked (HACKED!) the door hinges to make the doors removable. Is it possible he hacked into the headlight switch wire for a radio feed? I may just need to rip out all the crap and re-wire.

Sorry, Scott, I've got nothing. When my vehicles develop electrical problems, I get rid of them

When my vehicles develop electrical problems, I get rid of them LOL ;D Scott - Sounds like a real hack job. Sure sounds like he messed a few things up. Better to rip it out and start fresh.

On the radio, it sounds like he screwed up and used the illumination feed as the switched power feed.
I'd just disconnect and cap off what he did for wiring, then rewire the entire audio system.

He basically twisted the wires and taped them. no crimps, no nuts. project for next weekend. on a better note, John, i picked up the wiper bushing kit at AutoZone and the wipers are now tighter than a witches a$$. ;D Also got it inspected today. The dude almost failed me because of the loudness of the new exhaust. I said "Dude, it's new and was cheap" he looked under and said OKAY. PASSED! ;D

Goes to show the differences at various inspection stations. I ran that Dynomax cat back system for over 3 years and never had them complain about the noise level. Isn't having wipers that stay on the glass nice ;D
