I was planning on doing a pre-emptive strike and replace my ball joints and u-joints before the spring. They seem OK but they're about 10 years old and..... well, I'm guessing it won't be a waste of time
Anyway, my question is this. You think I should go the Auto Zone route for the HW? They have the LLT warranty and I've never had a problem with their parts but I never beat on their parts with a Jeep. All my other vehicles saw paved roads.
Thanks

FWIW I did my ball joints about 3 seasons ago with a set I ordered from Quadratec. (Probably on par with AZ parts) F-FWD... Lou noticed they were starting to crap out last month when the heep was in getting the new R&P installed. This time I bought some Moog ball joints and popped them in last Sunday. Joe O. swears by Moog suspension products.

Joe O. swears by Moog suspension products. Oh yeah! Moog rocks. You do pay a little more green for them, but it's worth it IMO. Ask John about his $10 China joints. Another option is to stick with good 'ol Spicers. There's a reason that your stuff has lasted this long. Ball joints, tie rods, u-joints - they're all good. I run Warn 4340 chromoly 30 spline shafts in my front 44 with Spicer 760's.

Moog is my first choice when I have the $$$
The Auto Zone Duralast ones aren't too bad for the $
Those were the ones that failed on me out in Moab. They've been in the Heep since mid 2007, so I got almost 2 1/2 years on them with 35" tires. On the plus side, they didn't ask any questions when I brought them back under warranty.
As Joe pointed out, STAY AWAY FROM THE CHEAP CHINA JUNK ON EBAY!!!!!!!!! I bought a set of four for $40.00 shipped just to have as spares for Moab. The upper one I installed was shot by the time I got home (2 1/2 days of wheeling and about 2600 miles of driving).

For my application Moog and AZ use the same part number, suspect MOOG makes the part for AZ. The AZ part looks similar but a slightly different, maybe slightly lower grade materials. MOOG cost about 2x AZ.
At the beginning of the summer I started off with MOOG TRE's on the drag link and AZ TRE's on the tie rod. One of the MOOG TRE's lasted about 2 months, 1 wheeling trip and less than 1000 miles. I replaced it with an AZ TRE and since then everything has been fine. I suspect I got a bad one from MOOG or it took a rogue hit on the wheeling trip. I threw it out before knowing about the warranty. So far no complaints with the AZ TRE's.
