Hi All, Had a run in with a rock in the trial on the snow run I did with ExploringNH and bent the tie rod and drag link a bit. What do you all recommend for aftermarket upgrades? My drag link was already a bit bent and the tie rods not too bad but figure I might as well upgrade the whole lot to something beefier than the stock TJ. I've got a 4" lift with 1"bl on a tJ. Rugged ridge strikes me as a reasonable deal for their HD tie rod drag link kit. Dont think I want to buy the Currie setup a little too much $$ other options worth looking at? www.quadratec.com/products/56118_103.htm Also saw something on another forum about using a ZJ tie rod as its supposedly beefier. Any thoughts on that? thanks Jeff

Does the RR use an upgraded tie-rod end?
I know the Currie is a bit of $ but a lot of people run it for a reason. I have been very happy with mine (though I need to bend it straight about once a year)
The ZJ tie-rod is a quick and easy fix but I believe you'll still use the factory tie-rod ends. You also still have a weak draglink, so if you strengthen the tie rod the next weakest link in the chain is...

Does the RR use an upgraded tie-rod end? "These Tie Rod Assemblies provide virtually 1-ton strength with factory tapered ends, so no modification is required! The tube is 1.25” OD SAE steel with .25” wall thickness that is cold rolled, pierced and drawn through dies. This bolt-on tie rod and drag link solution is perfect for preventing bent tie rods from off roading with larger tires. All rod ends come complete with dust shields, castle nuts, cotter pins, 2 jamb nuts and zerk fittings." So the tie rod ends are the same diameter as the stock but overall its beefier... not sure the difference between these and currie as the currie is bolt in as well...

there are pictures of the tie-rod ends under the currie listing from q-tec: www.quadratec.com/products/56116_200.htmnot sure if it makes that much of a difference, maybe someone else can chime in with an opinion. It's hard to tell if the RR uses the exact same end as stock or just that it interfaces correctly.

Currie. Talk to Dom, tell him you're in Baystate. I got mine from him for $50 less than Q-tech and didn't have to pay any shipping.

Lots of people run the currie setup in BSJ (including myself) and (so far as I know) all have been happy with it.
ZJ parts are stronger than the stock XJ/YJ/TJ tie rod & drag link, but I don't know how much. The ZJ stuff is bolt-in and parts can be sourced easily from any auto parts store and will be less expensive than a HD aftermarket setup. If you don't want to spend the $ on a HD aftermarket setup I'd go w/ ZJ parts from a local parts store over replacement w/ stock parts (cost should be similar).

JKS makes top notch products and if Lou is recommending them then that's good enough for me.
