So I had to take the WK in for another fuel leak -- this time around the fuel filter -- early last week... In addition to another fuel leak fixed the week after returning from Moab I also had to get a tranny leak fixed (and fluid topped off) since returning from Moab -- apparently there is a connector on the NAG tranny which commonly develops a leak. While at their shop the dealer checked the air filter and found it was black... The car had ~7500 mi on it when I left for Moab and I know the air filter wasn't black (back in mid Oct). When I got home the WK had ~13k mi (just short of the 2nd oil change interval) and it had ~14.5k mi when it went in again to get the (latest) leak fixed last week. I don't know if they checked it either of the last 2 times it was in there over the last ~1000 mi or so. <sigh> JW

That reminds me... I put a new fuel filter in my diesel tow rig before leaving for Moab. After returning from the 5,000 mile trip I pulled and replaced the fuel filter again. The filter from the trip was covered in a black silt like substance. It was disgustingly filthy. I suspect we got a load of crappy fuel somewhere. All diesel drivers on the Moab trip may want to change their fuel filters if they haven't done so yet. The air filter in my YJ was pretty caked up with Red Rock dust

I changed mine after the last offroad trip on Friday out there. I've also wiped out the interior with a damp towel twice since we got back. Still red dust all over

Wasn't me - I was out of potatos...LOL I actually haven't checked my truck. It was changed at a free dealer oil change a couple thousand before. Probably a good idea though. The YJ's air filter was a little oil soaked ;D I actually haven't changed it yet though. I just flipped it around so the oily media was at the far end of the air box.

Blew all the bigger chunks off mine that last Friday in Moab.
Should give it a wash and re-oil though.

The air filter in my YJ was pretty caked up with Red Rock dust I haven't even looked at my XJ's filter yet... The WK's fuel filter got replaced as part of the dealer service to fix the (latest / last) leak... I'm not sure, but I get the impression changing the filter is a PITA on the WK CRD. JW
