You may be sick of hearing from me Spray every bolt you plan on touching every day from now until you start working on them with PB Blaster. Especially the rear upper shock mounts, they are notorious for breaking off when you go to take off the shock. Every bolt that comes out and goes back in should be coated in anti-sieze - its a gray goopy liquid that you paste onto the bolt. 4 jackstands are best (can be done with 2) and a jack or two. All the sockets and wrenches you'll need. Lower control arms are 21 MM. Torque wrench for torquing everything properly when putting it back together. Air compressor with air tools make everything go much faster... That's all I can think of Where do you live? Feel free to ask for help KEV

Sounds like a great weekend, when installing the herculiner really make sure that the tub is clean, use water for the final wipe down. I've heard that certain cleaners can leave a residue that can affect it's ability to properly stick to the metal.
If you need any help give a shout.

HHhhhmmmmm.... I'm not sure water is the best thing to use last. I always thought grease remover like aircraft cleaner was better... any one have any thoughts.

I Herc'd my tub about 18 months ago. IIRC the basic steps were to:
A) Strip the entire interior - time consuming B) Thoroughly vacuum out the interior C) Scuff the existing paint with a green scrub pad to dull the surface so the Herc will stick. Scrub pad provided in the kit. D) Wipe down the surfaces to be Herc'd with Xylene. Nasty stuff - use lots of ventilation! D) Carefully tape off all areas that you don't want the Herc on. E) Apply first coat of Herc with the roller provided. Use a small brush for the tight areas the roller can't get in. F) Let it dry G) Apply a second coat H) Let it thoroughly dry I) Re-assemble the interior of the Jeep J) Go Wheeling ;D

I'll be doing this stuff this upcoming Tuesday and most likely Wednesday, I figured most people are working so I never asked. (it'll be a bonding moment between me and the TJ) If anybody wants to help, PM for directions. I'm close to Fall River, about 20min from Taunton or Newport RI.

You'll be bonding with more than your TJ if you don't use gloves, and be careful.
Kurt forgot one thing on his list. If you have long hair....put it in a pony tail or something...It likes to grab unsuspecting wispy hair. Have fun, Herc-ing is kinda like yoga and meditation all in one. I like mine done all Hercd up.

Ok, Where the heck do you get Xylene i couldn't find it anywhere Napa, auto zone, Wal*mart, Sears, is this stuff legal in MA Scott, I am a lab rat (have been since 1990) and have used Xylene plus many other TOXIC chemicals in my work. Xylene may not be readily available in the market as it is used by labs for microscope slide work plus various other things. You can get MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) in most auto parts/hardware stores. It is in the same chem. "family" as Xylene but a little less toxic. What these chemicals are used for in your case is removing all traces of grease/oils from metal without harming the metal. It therefore provides better contact adhesion b/w the herc. and the metal. Works very well for applying/removing stickers too. However, whichever one you use, make sure you do it in a well ventilated area as both chemical's fumes are LETHAL causing respiratory failure. In addition to this they are carcinogens so definitely WEAR GLOVES (also avail. at most stores but the latex/neoprene ones are not impervious to them - so double or triple glove if using) when doing this. Another option which contains xylene is the cleaner called Goof Off from Valspar (hardware stores or http://www.goof-off.com). HTH, Jay P.S. I am/have been elsewhere the Lab Safety Officer so lots of experience with various chems. including good ones!

Xylene can be had at Home Depot or Loews. Do NOT use water to do the final wipe down of the tub.
