The bikini top for a YJ has a hard plastic rib along the front that fits into a 'screw-on' header strip that sits on the top of the windshield.
The bikini top for my 04 Rubi pretty much attaches the same way except the header is larger and clamps on to the top of the windshield frame.
After having said all that, how does a bikini for a 97 TJ fit? It has no plastic rib in the front but instead it has a 'roll??' similar to that which slides into a rear soft top window bottom.
So what does the 97 TJ bikini header look like?
Thanks, Max

Max, I have a 97 TJ and have the Bestop bikini & header for it. Here is the "T" (roll) on the front of the bikini... Here is a closeup of the end of one of the two channels that get screwed to the back of the windshield frame. The plastic "T" on the bikini slides into the "C" opening of the channel. The orange stuff is some foam rubber to make a seal to the windshield. And a far away shot of one of the two channels. This is the left one. Kurt

FWIW - A clamp-on version of the bikini's also available from Bestop, which eliminates the drilling, much the same as the one you're describing for your Rubi.

similar question...any way to fit a tj top onto a yj, the tub on either looks the same, and i know th windsheild frame is sloped a bit more...what are the chances? i saw the viking rollback top in a mag somewhere and it said the only app. was a tj. i would love to have this top, can i run a tj windsheild frame on a yj or would the whole thing be a project?

i fancy myself creative with tools any specifics or just...nope wont fit I just wanted to sum it up in one sentence . In a nutshell, the rake is different, the hinge's are different, the width is slightly different(but is probably close enough), the gasket is different, and the windshield wiper location in the body is different. You'd probably have an easier time cutting a TJ cowl and grafting it to a cut-up YJ tub. The only thing the YJ and TJ have in common, as far as the body goes, is the tailgate. That is the only piece that carried over when the TJ came out.
