So, we all have em, that favorite spot that we love to go. Who cares about the drive, who cares about how long you sit in traffic. It the feeling you get once there. It's a public spot, sure, but it's yours. You take care of it, you respect it. It's there when you want it. Do you share? Rarely. Would you share, sure! But only with folks that would respect it with as much passion as you do. Would you want just ANYONE to go there, and potentiall ruin your favorite spot? NO. Do you have permission to be there, and take care of it when needed, yes. Do you leave with more trash then when you came? Yup. Do you want it to always be there for you...you bet!
My favorite fishing spots, I could tell you where they are. I could tell you how to get there. Would it ever be the same, if I mentioned it ONLINE? That would surely have to be a NO. Our places are precious to us, while they are not OURS persay, they are more and more dear to us. They allow us freedom, fun, and a whole multitude of other feelings.
Then I ask this...why, why, why are names being mentioned on trails??? Please do not do this. Anyone can gain access, but will just anyone respect the trails? Dunno. I'd like to think so, but this is not always the case. If this were your home address, would you put it out there for just anyone? Don't think so. Why, because lots of things can happen to your home when you are away.
Our trails are becoming fewer, and fewer. The number of folks using them is rising. We as a club have always respected the trails we use, we cannot guarantee that of everyone. We do not leave trash behind, we take it out. We do not malicisously use the environment, we practice Tread Lightly principals. Can we say that of complete strangers? No.
Any thread that is caught mentioning trail names will be deleted.
Thanks, and I hope you understand!
