So, with all the chit chat....NO NAMES MENTIONED please, regarding the area many people use I was thinking perhaps we should start a discussion on the open section, so everyone can see this.
Again...please, do not mention trail names.
It is very discouraging to see our trails being abused, beaten, and consequently taken away because of those actions. While we all enjoy the sport of off roading, sometimes we are our own worst enemies. When I say "we" that is in regard to folks that either knowingly, or unknowingly disturb the balance of the land, the landowner, and the general public.
Drinking and wheeling/offroading should never take place.
Littering is right up there with drinking.
While we all get stuck sometimes...Tread Lightly proposes, rightly so, that we do the "three tries and then help" methodology.
With this, we should not be doing much damage if any to the surrounding areas we drive on.
We should NEVER try to make more go arounds...stay ON the trail. If you can't DO the trail...then go back.
I could go on and on....I would stongly reccommend that any off road person join a club, or form a responsible one if you don't have access geographically to one. With the wheeling clubs in the North East anyway...we have a great ally in the North East Association of 4 Wheel Drive clubs. I'm sure there are some for quads and dirtbikes, as well as snow mobiles.
Educate yourself about proper use of your vehicle, trails and the landowner realationships.
PLEASE!!! The more care we take to nurture our trail systems, the fewer closures we will have. If you are reading this, you are one of "us", please consider how the trails are used by yourself and your friends. We are all in this together. Closures affect us all. Club affiliation or not....trails close, we all lose.
WAKE UP CALL!!!
