Well, I was thinking about taking Angie on a Jeep Jambo next year. One of you guys had to have gone before. How is it? Please tell me I won't have some kid try and tell me how to drive over a pebble?!?! I was looking at Maine or Penn. They're rated 4-7 (out of ten). I was hoping for a 9-10. What are your experiences with JJ? Is it worth the $ for a Jeeper like me?
Inquiring minds want to know... Thanx.

I'm pretty sure someone from BSJ told me they went....can't for the life of me remember who. If they don't answer you....try NEOW....I KNOW someone has to have been on there. And maybe even give you info on both!
As for worth it for a Jeeper like you? LOL there is no other like you Joe! How does one compare? If you are looking for a 9-10 you may just want to go visit John come summer.

I've been to the Maine Mountains one and the New Jersey Pine Barrens one. I went to them in like '98 and '99. The commeraderie is great. Alot of newbies offroading totally stock vehicles for the first time. Also some modified jeeps with mainly inexperienced drivers. In terms of offroading, you will probably have fun if you go on the hardest trail they offer, but don't expect Paragon Black trails. They don't really want too much breakage. Its something like 250+ a person I think.... maybe like 350 even. It includes breakfast, lunch and dinner for 2 days and of course the "guides" to show you the trail. One bad thing... they will be sticking 30+ jeeps on a single trail.... and you won't be moving very quickly! Its good for newbies and people focused on commeraderie and the social aspect of wheeling. Its not so good for people more interested in their own jeeps ability and challenging themselves. KEV

I have attended the Charlemont, MA Jeep Jamboree twice (once back in 1995 with my one year old Grand Cherokee - yes, Grand Cherokee! and again in 2004 with my old YJ). Both times I had a blast. It is a little pricey ($250 per adult) but when you consider they feed you the whole weekend, its not bad at all. I did, however, get some correspondence from them recently that at they thinking about offering them without the meal package so people could save some dough. Not sure if that is available yet. You can chose the trails you go on based on you and your Jeep's abilities. The two closest to here are the Bethel, Maine one (rated 4-6) and the Catskill, NY one (rated 4-8) on a scale of 1-10. Both are in September so the foliage is nice. Weather also places a factor on the rating as well as I found out on my first one where it poured more than I have ever seen it rain in my life! You will definitely meet some real nice people and have a good time. You register on a Thursday, ride all day Friday and Saturday and leave after breakfast Sunday am. After the day's trail rides, participants are encouraged to bring in their video footage to show off the days activities after dinner. They also have GREAT raffles where you can win some sweet items such as winches or suspension lift kits. There aren't a TON of people there, so your chances aren't bad at all! So anyway, it is a great way to cover some trails you didn't know about before and meet some pretty cool Jeep people. Hope this helps! Click here for more info... www.jeepjamboreeusa.comJoe

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll look into the trail offerings a little more. I just found that the height limit is 6" (4" suspension and 2" body) and 37" tires. I'm slightly over the height, but my 35" Claws are ok. Maybe they won't notice the height. I guess it would be a cool carmaraderie run (I think running with 30 stock Jeeps would kill me though). I'm leaning more towards the Bethel,Me run so I can visit the boys from OLM and WMMJ. Maybe I could let Angie drive and relax. ;D In terms of offroading, you will probably have fun if you go on the hardest trail they offer, but don't expect Paragon Black trails. They don't really want too much breakage. Its good for newbies and people focused on commeraderie and the social aspect of wheeling. I Most likely will be going to the Bethel Maine one. The only thing is the money they want for EACH person, They should really only charge by the Jeep not the Person. I would never be able to take my kids, it would cost me $1,200. CRAZY! and it's not JEEP Only anymore. I just got the Jeep Jamboree DVD of the Rubicon Trail. yea they do move Slow! ;D Big party on the last day, looked fun!

Joe, you may want to make sure she wants to go too.....if not...I'll go with you! hehehehe! whoa. I can barely handle one woman. I would be the shizznit though The Jeep Jamboree isn't just for Jeeps anymore huh? There is no way in hell I'm sharing a trail with a Kia Sorrento. Edit: Just found this on the Jambo site: Can my friend who owns a competitive vehicle participate? Only if he or she rides in your Jeep 4x4! Jeep Jamborees are strictly for Jeep 4x4s. No exceptions.

Theres another event at the rubicon called the "Jeepers Jamboree" which has nothing to do with "Jeep Jamboree".
The JEEPERS one is open to all 4x4's I guess.
The JEEP is run my Mark Smith and somehow affiliated with Jeep the Vehicle company.

Joe - cool name. Yup, I'm from Douglas. I pass through Sturbridge from time to time (and stop at Rom's for some Italian grub) but can't say I have seen your Jeep. I will have to be on the look-out next time I go through...
Scott- as for the Jeep Jamboree thing, the reason they don't charge by Jeep is because they provide meals (3 on Friday, 3 on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday) for the $250 adult fee, in addition to a t-shirt, trail permission and a chance to win at the raffles. I am not sure how many kids you have but kids (5 and under) are FREE and 6-12 are $125 each. All occupants have to have seat belts so the most you would spend with two adults and two (age 6-12) kids is $750. Camping is available at most as well so you can save on the lodging that way too...I have found that the inns and hotels jack up their prices for the foliage season.
