Had a great time at the Crawl, no breakage on my end but 3 people had u-joint probs and I got to thinking I should replace mine. Or at least have trail spares I'm looking for advice on what to get. The ones at AZ aren't greasable, but I think I want that option. Or do I? Most of you know how I drive, not to hard but when I replace these, I want to do it right. And once, if that's possible Thanks!

Carl, My front axle has Spicer 760-X's that held up great to multiple beatings this weekend. Some people recommend the greasable joints for serviceability, but I prefer non-greasable as they are slightly stronger (no grease port running through the trunion). Just use synthetic grease.
If you can't get the Spicer joints, I've actually had good luck with Advance Auto's "Brute Force" ujoints.
non-greasable > greasable My $.02.

Is this your DD? I personally prefer greasable u-joints. Other then popping off caps I haven't broken a u-joint, but I've had plenty fail due to mud/water/age. Greasable u-joints allow you to keep the grease fresh and push the junk out to help them maintain a longer life. If this were your trail rig seeing only a few hundred miles a year then I would say go non-greasable, but I would personally recommend the 297x greasable u-joints if this is a DD. As to the cap issue, you can machine/grind down the lip on the ears to allow for full circle clips, which makes the axle at least a little bit stronger. (alloys have full circle clips)

No, not a DD. Had it a year this month (almost my anniversary!) and put about 5K on it. I mean, on the clock. Prolly close to that in $$ too Funny how that works...... I don't think I'll ever go CC on it (Captain Carnage ;D) but I'd like to be prepared for trail fixes. I have spare D30 shafts that I was going to clean up and rebuild with new joints, throw them in my trail kit. And get some F & R drive shaft joints, just in case

Non greasable works good If not a DD they keep out water better and are stronger Check them once a month and you will be fine
