Well, that was fun! Drove to Amesbury....was snowing...(work car, not Jeep) did my account there. Drove to Dover, NH extreeeeemly slow 40mph on highway tops! Saw some cars off the road. Drove slower. Tires are pretty lame, boss won't put on new ones, since he put some on it in the las winter mess. Did my accounts in Dover, folks all over the roads. Watched some old lady driving her electric wheelchair in this mess.... (what was she thinking?) Got it all done in Dover, and went home. Took about 1/2 hour more than normal. More cars off the road. I get home, the lovely plow guys made a nice wall for me to shovel before I could park. The MORON downstairs who doesn't work all winter shoveled 1/2 the steps, and 1/2 the walk way. GOT to be the laziest guy I've ever seen. Probably in his mid 20's. sigh. I'm exhausted....stressfull driving in this chit in a crappy car.

you should get a job like mine. Got up at 7:25, walked into the office and turned on the computer, went to the kitchen and got a cup of coffee, walked back to the office and was at work. My next door neighbor got a brand new snowblower that he hadn't used before, so he did my driveway, all I has to do was shovel the stairs. Praying that Donna and my boys have a safe time getting to and from work, but I gotta say I've got it made. Only thing I need is a garage, then I can move the computer out there and work on the Jeeps while I'm waiting for stuff to compile, or queries to run.

I can feel your pain. It took almost 2.5 times my regular commute to get from Pawtucket, RI to Norwood, MA...I need one of those neighbors w/ the new snowblower...
Have a safe drive tonight...

Well, Try doing 200+ miles in this "chit" in a tractor/trailer Actually, I try to have fun with it, it's the only way to stay sane Let me just tell everybody here (since were on the subject) that the middle lane on a three lane hwy is NOT the travel lane! please move over when a truck is behind YOU and wants to get by. Thank YOU! ;D

I bet you must love when people pull in front of you and then slow down! Personally, I like to turn on the CB and listen to all the southern boys go on and on about stuff. Summer is especially funny...talkin about all the wommmmin. (like they have a snowball's chance in hell!)

Thank YOU! ;D Scott, Negative! Even an empty TT goes around 30,000+ lbs and doesn't get tossed around like a 5000 lbs TJ on 12.5 wide tires in the snow, never mind when they are loaded with about 70,000+ lbs. Hey, you could always practice for another job. (would you like fries with that?) And for the middle lane thing, if you're going at or just above the speed limit, the TT can slow down behind you , however, if you're going under the limit, Scotts absolutely right, move to the right.

I've noticed that here in MA, no matter what the average speed is, the middle lane is ALWAYS the slowest. I guess people feel safer there, or whatever, but that's been my experience.

And for the middle lane thing, if you're going at or just above the speed limit, the TT can slow down behind you , however, if you're going under the limit, Scotts absolutely right, move to the right. Here lies the problem, If I intend to get up that big hill ahead, I'm going to need to gain a little speed. 65mph doesn't cut it, I'm going to need a little more and MAYBE I'll be able to maintain a safe (not to slow) speed by the top of the hill. Don't get me wrong I like my job, BUT Grandma maintaining 64.5mph in the middle lane IS a PAIN IN THE BUT! Right Lane=Travel ;D Middle=Passing Left Lane=High Speed+no trucks allowed. ALSO ;D In Mass the ON ramp has the Right of Way UNLESS it has a YIELD Sign.

I don't move over when someone...anyone is riding my butt. Especially if I'm already OVER the speed limit. Which is usually the case. If you are running up behind me, and I've been in that lane....too bad, so sad, go around. If I'm in the 3rd lane and someone wants to go around...I move over. 1st lane....well. I stay there if it was like yesturday! Or if I'm getting off the highway.
There are times I don't dare move over if it's got snow on the road. At least I know my chances are better of maintaining control...not getting stuck in those damn rutts that form. I've spun out with a couple of different vehicles...including the Jeep. So, I'm no fan of winter driving with tons of cars/trucks around. I don't care if I spin out...just don't want to get hit or hit anyone else in the process.

I like to consider myself a Professional Driver, I like to call it 'Transportation Specialist' I believe Mass DOT ran a campaign about a year ago about passing on the right and how you would get a ticket if you did so. If I am correct THEN the middle lane if not for extended travel. And let me say again, I have NOT nor do I condone Tailgating to make someone move over.

Not tryin to stick my nose where it doesn't belong, but I just had driving school and we learned that by the law passing on the right is allowed on a multilane highway divided by a barrier or median. (page 24)I dunno how far you'd get argueing that to a state trooper LOL but that the way it's worded. Also it says that you should yield the right of way to drivers already on the highway. (page 17) The rules of the road can be found here.

Not tryin to stick my nose where it doesn't belong
Ok Jason, then don't! Told you on your site, as long as you can take it too. ;D From what I've "heard", IF the two or more lane highway is divided by a barrier or median strip which designates the travel way to a single direction, then you absolutely can legally pass on the right. (normal highway) If the two or more lane highway only has a double solid line separating the different travel ways, then no, you can't pass on the right. (Rt 20 Charlton and I believe Rt 1 near the mall in S.Attleboro) Hope that helps

Just remember we're talking about massachusetts here... not New Mexico or Texas.... it frustrates me to see Suvs speeding during icy conditions.. (Did someone forget to remind them that just beacuse they have an suv... their brakes arent any better in these conditions than that of a car)". Scott put the hammer Down !!!! Looks like weve got a Convoy!
