It was around 2am and I was still working/watching TV when I heard my jeep door close. Looked out the window, didn't see the light on. So I gave it another min and sure enough out comes some punk in a white hoodie sweatshirt. I dashed out side, phone in hand chasing after him. Well, he ran into someone's yard and disappeared out of sight (I didn't have shoes on at this point). Cops showed up and did a "4 man" walk thru the neighborhood.
Because I don't keep anything in the jeep, there was nothing to take. However my center console doesn't stay locked anymore. Who the hell breaks into a jeep anyway's??
I think the person lives locally, due to a couple reasons.... 1) The route of escape 2) They didn't look in the window first, no palm marks on the window, they went right in.
I am pissed... and the Jeep feels violated!!!!!

Jeeps are a easy target most dont lock them with soft tops or they should not lock the doors I have never locked my doors Never looked in the window means he had plans on going in no question
In your yard the guy got balls
I would rather have them open the door than cut a window soft top jeeps are easy Out here I dont worry about B + Es on the jeep even when It was my DD always leave your doors open ( unlocked ) better than buying a new window after they slice it
Maybe a tire gage and deflaters in my center console

I HATE THIEVES!!!!! damn punks. couple years ago, caught a dirtbag rifling through my Vette. Rght in front of my house! I was coming out and he looked up and saw me. Jumped in his car and bailed. I still remember it..... 2 tone POS Olds. Really wanted to cave his skull in.... I know what you mean about feeling violated. That's why I hate thieves so much. It's so personal when someone takes yer chit.

It's a local, no doubt. Now that it's getting cold, you'll see him walking around with his hoodie.

I always leave the doors unlocked and really nothing of any value in the jeep. This is the 4th time in 3 years we have had this happen, last time they cleaned out the wife's gas tank.
Since keeping the lights on outside didn't do a darn thing but provide better light, I am thinking of purchasing a cheap alarm that goes off when a door is opened.
To total it up over the past 3 years on my 1/4 mile street alone... 2 Quads (only 1 recovered) 3 GPS's Tons of CD's (what's a CD?) 3 gas tanks cleaned out 2 stereos Wood splitter (yup a wood splitter, dumb arss that stole it lived 3 houses over)

Damn, I lived in Gardner for 28 years and never had a break in. I leave and the place goes to hell. I have the same thought about locking the Jeep doors. I just don't bother. I consider them unlockable. It's like putting a steel lock on a plastic box... If I bring it to work I park it in the driveway right under three security cameras. (That way if it's broken into I have multiple angles of the idiot.) It's most vulnerable at home but I've yet to have a problem in my neighborhood. At some point I'm going to add a motion light near it, but that's really all you can do. If they want in, they'll get in. Simple as that.

Yes, the center console was locked. Now the lock wiggles and can be opened easy when locked.
Gas was stolen from my Wife's XJ this summer and 2 cars down the street.

If he leaves a loaded and they don't die they will sue! and then he will be at fault not the thief! Messed up is all I can say. I don't lock my jeep either I leave CD's that is all if they really want it that bad take it I would rather have them take my CD's then cut the soft top. Then if they were smart they would just unzip the darn thing it is just as fast to get in that way.
