Hi all - I'm shopping for new tires for the spring... Right now I've got an XJ w/ D30/C8.25 axles w/ 4.56 gears & ARBs. I'm running a 4.5" RE lift (short arm) which eventually I'm going to increase to a 6" long arm (probly not this year - who knows when). The gears are a bit painful since I'm running 31x10.5" TruXus M/Ts. (I want my XJ to have a useful 1st gear again on the road) I'm thinking I want to get to something in the 33" size... IT isn't a daily driver, so I am looking towards something more aggressive than what I've got... I want to stick to a 15" wheel (easier to get a 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern and I can get new AR-767 wheels cheap) so metric is basicly out. Current conteders: 34x10.5 LTB - $117 33x12 TSL - $170 33x12 SS-R- $200 33x12 TruXus M/T - $165 33x12 GY MT/R - $170 Prices are approxomate, per tire (based on my research)... I'm leaning towards the LTB right now for the size/price/performance. I've also looked at MT Claws, but I haven't found/called a dealer for pricing. I also have been wondering about the new Ground Hawgs from Interco, but I haven't gotten a price yet... I don't have any reservations about trimming the fenders any more since all the panels have dents in them and aren't worth keeping anyway... What do you guys think? JW

You may also want to think about SX's if you don't care about street ride.
I would forget about the GY MT/R's and the Trxus if its not a daily drive. May as well get something great offroad, and crappy on road.
The LTB is a good idea... very cheap, big, probably great offroad. Just get ready to do some major trimming to fit them.

You might want to be sure whatever you get for tires have siping. I had some BFG MT's without siping and they were VERY scary on ice.

Not a daily driver, huh? Get Boggers. Forget the extra lift. You'll wheel better with a lower center of gravity. Cut to fit. Better yet, get 33 14.5's for the rear and thinner swampers for the front. That would look pissah.
I'm also quite partial to Mickey Thompson Baja Claws in the 35" flavor(that's what I run on my junk). They kick butt and actually measure a full 34.9" tall. Most tires are considerably less than the advertised height.

I'll probably only run the new tires in the spring/summer/fall... I'll keep the 31" TruXus M/Ts for the winter/snow (I've already got the speedo gear for them). The main reason I like the LTB is that it is a bit narrower and a bit taller than the rest of the 33s... They call it a 34, but Interco's site says it is really only 33.6" tall. The narrower profile will fit the XJ wheel well better. If I try to get a 35" in there (and it did occur to me) I don't think I'll have any fenders left! I don't want anything really wide (they do make a 33x10.5 bogger) because it would require some kind of extended fender flare options to keep it legal in NH (they are picky about tires sticking out beyond the wheel well). I'm also too cheap to buy bushwacker flares... But I don't think I want something quite that aggressive... If I save a bit of money on the tires now I was thinking I may be able to get the long arm kit sooner and leave the +1.5" of lift for later (unless it doesn't seem necessary - it doesn't really bother me to drag the t-case skid over stuff). BTW - Interco is having a sale on "blemished" tires direct from the factory. None in the sizes I want, but there look to be some good deals. JW take a look at the Pitbulls "www.pitbulltires.com" Tj and I were both thinking of trying them out for the next tires this summer... BEEEEFY sidewall, but maybe a little wide for what your looking for... I'm gonna go with the Rockers....

I did look at the Pitbull offerings... They were a bit wider than I wanted to try and deal with...
This morning I became the proud owner of a set of 5 34x10.5x15 LTBs on Barett Racing wheels...

This morning I became the proud owner of a set of 5 34x10.5x15 LTBs on Barett Racing wheels... Nice choice I'm running tall/narrow TSL's (Q's) with the factory flares too. If you have late model flares, it's a little tougher to trim/keep attached than the old 84-96 style were. Here's some pics of what's worked for me (Burgandy MJ) so far: 65.42.106.152/forums/showthread.php?t=652785

Yes... Looking forwad to trying them at Paragon and getting 1st gear back!
I bought the tires from Lou, but I ordered the wheels directly from Barett Racing.
