I was curious if anyone was running Ramsey winches on their Jeeps. How are they? I've been eyeballing one in a catalogue for a couple of weeks now. It's a Ramsey Patriot 8000. Any thoughts? It's made in the U.S.A. which I strongly support, and it has a lifetime warranty. And, on a lesser note, it has an integrated silenoid (may be spelled wrong) which looks good. Any help is appreciated.

Ramsey is decent... I know Joe has a REP8000 that has lasted and worked pretty well.
My thought: Either go cheap, and spend like 400 bucks and get a REP8000
OR
Go all out and get the newest and greatest for 1000 bucks....
If you're being "budget" concious, then stay very concious. If you want the strong and fast, then get the best.

Well, they may not be domestic built but Superwinch makes a nice product for the $$$ For under $600 you can get an EPi9.0 that has the intigrated solinoids, it has good line speed and comes with the roller fairlead + a pulley block to boot! Smileyfish runs one on his Jeep and it's worked great. I run the non intigrated on mine and havn't had problems. Lou at Elias 4wd changed out a Warn for a EP9.0 (non intigrated) on his personal rig and hasn't had any problems with his or any that he's sold so far! Not trying to do a comercial for Superwinch, just putting my 2cents in. Don't go so "budget" that you buy one of those Harbor Freight specials!!!! John

It's pulled my butt up the trail more times than I can count. It just keeps chuggn'. The only downside : it's S-L-O-W.....whether you're fully loaded or spooling wire onto the drum, it's the same speed. I'm used to it, but watching some of those Warns go...holy crap, I can't even walk that fast. The Patriot series might be faster than the REP's though. Bottom line: Me likey rAMSEY

I've heard alot of good things about them over on the rubicon owners forum.
They are however made in Austrailia, so not supporting America.
Then again, I don't really mind help out the Aussies...
