In the front and the rear of the frame on a YJ, there's a threaded hole on the underneath, I thought it was a 7/16th coarse, but I'm having trouble getting the tread to catch. Any Insight? Will a thin thread work?

What did you do?

I had the same problem too. COuldn't find anything that fit. I ended up tapping it to a larger english size.

I went to the H Depot and gathered as many different fine and coarse threaded screws in both metric and english that were around the 7/16th size. At 19 cents a bolt, money wasn't really a problem. I ended up using as close to a 7/16 coarse in metric as I could find. It cross threaded right up and holds well with a lock washer. Considering that the load direction will be perpendicular to the bolt direction, it should hold just fine. I'll keep you posted on how well it lasts. Probably the best thing to do would be re-tap it to a larger size though.
