Good evening all, are there any benefits to a 16" wheel vs 15"?
Thanks

Some might say they look better. Personally, I like the extra sidewall a 15" tire offers. It will flex and conform better on the trail.

15" wheels are cheaper.
15" tires are usually cheaper.
Technically, if you had the same exact size tire, but a larger wheel, it may handle a bit better on road because you have less rubber. In contrast, you want more rubber offroad... so 33's on 15's would have more sidewall to flex and hit rocks, with less wheel to hit rocks. This rule can become an issue when you get to larger size tires. For example, 90% of people running 37's today are doing so on a 17" rim. 37's on a 15" rim is TOO much rubber. You get some freakly lateral stability issues when you have that much soft rubber between the trail and your tire are low pressue.

On 16 and 17" tires, the sidewalls are stiffer and usually thicker. Most are load range D or E rather than the C rating the 15" ones have. Just to compare, I used to run 35's on 15's but just changed to 35's on 17's and the sidewalls still bulge very nicely.
The extra stiffness at 50-65 lbs in the tires will be welcome in the winter with the plow on.

Yep, pizza cutters on factory 15s... I wanted to keep the rolling weight down, save a couple bucks, and get out there and use them...I haven't made a run w/ Baystate since last fall... I'm dying to get out there. Work has kept me very busy.
My plan is to purchase 16" rims and tires of a wider and correct offset in the near future.
Piece by piece/check by check...it will be built.
