Jeeperman has a really good reputation.
If you like the looks of it, get it!

Aren't they extremely heavy too Max? We're running the Warn bumper/tire carrier on the Rubi. Bought it used for a good deal. The only thing I don't like about it is...no high lift mount. We are looking to remedy that problem though. Yes, they are heavy. I weighed them some time ago: Weight - Rear Bumper alone: 53.5 lbs; brace and hardware: 7.5 lbs. max

I have been watching this thread closely since this will also be a future purchase of mine. the Jeeperman setup gets my vote! This website www.raingler.com/shop/productDetails.asp?productID=66 gives you a ton of info they even tell you what kind of cardboard it'll be shipped in. Big plus is the recessed hitch and the locking carrier (open). Adjustable mounts for body lift They do mention that it could take up to a month for delivery, hope your not in a hurry.

Scott, Not sure if I'll make the run but if I do, I'll show you what I mean about the recessed hitch not working for crud. Otherwise, it was an OK bumper. Kel, talking about heavy, my KOZ bumper alone is 90 lbs, not counting the swing out, but it's make with 2x6 stock. Jeff

jay...It has a horizontal pin that keeps it locked but it doesnt have a pin to keep it open, did you plan on having it swinging back and forth while you wheeled??, however the Pinion is at least 3 inches.. its mounted on the bumper ..the only thing I dont like about it is that it has 2 bolts facing the rear which allows you to mount the Jack horizontally and not vertically... I guess it keeps people from stealing it because the tire needs to be removed to get at it ,but its a Pain because in order to get at it you have to remove the tire...oh well.. maybe that will force me to use my head wheeling ...and keep from getting stuck.. Andy;)

Scott, You are right their price is good but the wait is looooong - like 8 weeks some have said. It does not have pin to keep it locked when open either - a minus for me. Also some have said that over time it rattles, and customer service from LoD leaves a lot to be desired. If you want to get feedback email Eddie at www.4x4xplor.com. He deals with LoD directly and does provide good communication (unlike LoD) plus uses all their stuff. A few other points about the LoD xtreme bumper that I have gathered: Its shackle points are surface welded only (could fly off under a large load), powdercoating is suspect in salty climes (most is however), as mentioned above long wait to receive product and poor customer service through LoD (as written on other forums). HTH. BTW, I ordered my Jeeperman yesterday! Stoney: I want the open locking pin since I use my Jeep all the time for work in forested locales and when in the tailgate (very often), I didnt want the carrier hittin me in the backside when trying to load/unload stuff. I chose the Jeeperman since it has excellent reput., all the attributes I was looking for, and the price has come down to $700 plus free shipping from a number of vendors (4x4rockshop, northridge4x4). Thanks to all for your input! Jay ;D

You may want to check out Hanson Enterprises Bumpers. Good stuff...well engineered and heavy duty. You can configure it any way you want. You do pay a premium for them though. Option to get it powder coated or bare steel. I got a front bumper from them bare steel and rattle canned it. I'm currently saving my pennies for a rear set up. www.hansonenterprise.com/home.htmPS. Don't even consider powder coating...you know sooner or later (probably sooner) it's gonna look like crap.

One other to look at (I've seen good reviews) is the Bestop carrier. It bolts to the tub & tailgate, offloading the weight. If you're always in & out of the tailgate, its less work to open (just open the tailgate like normal). Or - you could always just get AAA, a tire patch kit, and OBA & leave the spare at home... (Hey, I have two of the three.... -mike

What about a simple spare tire relocation bracket for someone who doesnt use the trunk much/ wants to keep the factory bumper - saw one on quadratec. Im thinking about going this way.

Not to hijack or anything... I might have one of those in Arlington if you want to stop by & get it.... I might even have the 3rd brake light relocation mount too... $20 for both?

What about a simple spare tire relocation bracket for someone who doesnt use the trunk much/ wants to keep the factory bumper - saw one on quadratec. Im thinking about going this way. It allows you to fit a tire that wouldn't fit otherwise on the stock carrier. The problem is that you are now adding a heavier tire, that is a couple inches further away from the tailgate, increasing the leverage on the tailgate. Using one of those relocation brackets should only be a temporary measure, unless you really want to kill the tailgate. KEV
