If Matt doesn't want to run for President, how about Dir. of Trails? He is indeed very into that portion of club life.

"but I see your point about the "current year" vs "following year"."
Kel,
Actually, it doesn't really matter which way to me. Wasn't sure how its' been done by others and it probably would be petty to do "following year". Just wanted the people putting in the time to be compensated in some way.
While we're at it, I didn't know this was before the BOD, but I think it's better before the general membership. Sounds like Congress voting themselves a raise! I'm gonna try to put a smiley face here.....wish me luck! ;D

Well, as for giving "themselves" raises, nothing says the current BOD will remain in place in October. That's why we have elections and have in place one year at a time...right?
ya did good with mr. Smiley!

New Nomination: I would like to nominate Kurt Klopp for the Director Of Trails position. Kurt is a fairly new member of Baystate Jeepers, but has really proven himself over this past year. Not only has he been on nearly every run (maybe EVERY run), but he has always been ready and able to help out on the trail. Thinking back to Paragon, Kurt was always the first spotting and helping people through the tougher obstacles. As a matter of fact, I think it was Kurt that helped "un-flip" Bob from his unfortunate predicament. To cut to the chase - Kurt is great on the trails. He is a very resourceful, logical thinker who can fix my jeep for me if I break something, so I think that would really make him a great Director of Trails! GO KURT Does anyone see a trend... Kevin, Kelly, Kurt - Triple K Threat!

That's actually funny Kev, but these are just nominations....the voting decides...what the initials of the BOD will be! I'd like to second that nomination for Kurt running. What say ye, Kurt? Do you accept?

What are there, 6-7 BOD positions? Could the club stand to lose $300+ a year in free memberships to BOD members?
I don't see people picking up the responsibilities of a BOD position for only $50.00. I think concentrating on membership retention by keeping the agenda interesting should be a top priority. The most important position in the club (as I've always said), is the Director of Trails. Get a good trail schedule together and people will want to participate.

I believe the intention of the free membership is just as a sign of "thank you" for all the work BOD members do. Its not meant to convince people to be BOD members to save 50 bucks, its meant to show appreciation for those who did step up and to the plate.
I think its a great "motion" and will be voting yes on free BOD membership.

What about you Joe, any desire to run for something....PM me...I'll nominate you if you want! I believe that Kurt needs to say something doesn't he....Accept the nomination?! Oh Kurt....where are you? I appreciate that! Unfortunately, a nomination can only be made to a full member in good standing. Maybe next year, when my "vacation" is over, although I'm in the same boat at Jeff when it comes to kids. Fall (and now spring too) is tough due to soccer. Michaela's getting up there in the league now (she's 10!) and this is my first season in 5 years that I haven't coached as a lead or assistant. It's killing me too, as I have a big mouth. ...But anyway, I understand the intention of the free BOD membership is appreciation. It just reads differently to me (IMO). I would have gladly given another $50 when I was President to see more membership activity. Unfortunately, most people just want to wheel.

Well, before anyone asks:
10.1.1. A newly-admitted Regular Member may, at the discretion of the BOD, pay prorated dues based upon the remaining fiscal year.
$50/12 *2.5 (1/2 October, November & December) = $10.41
Or should this be changed to 'seasonal' year? March through November? 9 Months? You don't really get much for Dec, Jan & Feb
So, with one month left of the ~nine seasonal months I would imagine something like $50/9 * 1.5 ~ $8.33 ;D
Either way, this would make Joe eligible to run (or be drafted) for office for next year.

Greetings all - sorry for non responsiveness (& thanks for the PM Sharon) - I've been unknowingly "lurking" having failed to enter my activation key! I hesitate to commit to a Baystate office. Like most of you, I have many demands on very little private time. I just survived another year-end at work that had me pulling a 70 hour week. In addition, I volunteer with the Red Cross, teaching first aid, CPR, and running the Disaster Action team for Newport County, RI. The influx of Katrina evacuees plus our normal share of fire victims has overwhelmed our local office. I will not be able to attend the meeting due to another commitment. I'll continue to try to contribute to club activities as time allows, however my attendance & availability will likely be sporadic in nature as I try to fit things around work, volunteer & family commitments.

It's all good Matt. We know people are busy with LIFE in general. No worries.
Now, about this Red Cross thing.....where were you for the spring First aid class, you should have taught us some stuff!
Good luck with all you are doing, it is a worthy cause this "helping people " thing.
